Recovery Mode

Hi Everyone,

Hope you had a great weekend! My 14 mile run on Friday after work happened! YES! Seriously a huge thanks to Jeni for getting me through the first 6 miles. The last 8 were much more bearable because the sun was going down and it was MUCH cooler. For the first half it was in the upper 80s and not very pleasant running weather.

Jeni and I ran from downtown to Grays Lake, did one loop, and then back. I took my music to get me through and I honestly think it helped a lot. I can’t decide if I want to start doing my long runs with music or not, sometimes its nice to just enjoy the scenery without music blasting in your ears. I will have to still think about that one.

Surprisingly I wasn’t very sore when I woke up Saturday morning for the kickball tournament. Our team won 1 game and lost our last 2, so we were done by about 11:30! haha. Eric skinned up his whole shin and is still recovering from that injury. I didn’t get hurt in any of the games, but when I woke up Sunday morning it felt like I did. I was so sore all over. When you run all the time, you forget that running short sprints is A LOT different that running long distances at a slower pace. I took Sunday and Monday off running and am going to get back at it tonight. I am still a little sore, but much better.

Tonight is a Fat Tire run. They have them the last Tuesday of every month. Jeni and my friend Jillian did one in July. It was pretty fun with the incentive of a beer at the end so we are in this month again! Beer is a great motivator (Especially El Bait Shop)! 🙂

The rest of this week is going to be in the upper 90s so I am not too pumped about running in the heat but good news is I am doing 2 of my runs in the morning Saturday and Sunday so hopefully I will beat the heat on those days. I’m getting a little nervous about my 16 miles Saturday morning and the Hy-Vee Triathlon on Sunday, but it should be a great Labor Day weekend of running!

Hope your fitness goals are going great so far this week! Keep Running!
