Well I made it! 16 Miles! Wow! I couldn’t even sleep last night because I was so nervous about my run. I think I finally fell asleep about 1:30 a.m. Since the kids triathlon was going on at Gray’s Lake this morning the Capital Striders changed the meeting location to Fitness Sports for this week. We took the Greenbelt Trail the whole way and then hopped on Hickman for the last 3 miles. It was refreshing to get out to a new trail and take in the scenery. The houses out there were amazing, so I had a lot to look at to keep my mind off the pain.
Physically, I felt pretty good this morning. The pain really started to set in about mile 13. My legs and feet were tired and my knees were killing me. But, even though my last 3 miles were A LOT slower than the rest of my run, I finished.
Now its time to think about my run tomorrow morning. I iced my knees and ankles, took some Advil, and taped my knees up with some KT Tape, so hopefully with a little rest I will be ready to go tomorrow. Paul, Jenny and I have to be at Gray’s Lake at 6 a.m. tomorrow, so I will have an even earlier morning. Hopefully I can get more sleep tonight than last night. I am very excited to be in my first triathlon, even if I am only doing the 10K run.
I will have lots to report tomorrow, so check back then!
