Hills, Hills, Hills

Hi everyone!

My 7th run of the year was in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. My Aunt Beth and Uncle Craig have a lake house so we made it a family affair to head down for the race. I knew this was going to be a hilly run, but I didn’t imagine it being as hilly as it turned out to be. Wow! Those hills kicked my butt! Overall, I was pretty happy with my time considering the difficulty of the course and I’m just glad that one is over. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Finished: 2:17:29
  • Average pace: 10:29/mile
  • Overall: 102 of 157 (65%)

  • Age Group (F 25-29): 14 of 18 (78%)

The weather forecast the week leading up to the race called for thunderstorms and rain all day Saturday, so I was pretty anxious about the both the weather and the hills. Even the night before the race, it looked like we were going to get rained on. Thankfully, I bet the rain by about 30 minutes. It literally started raining as we were getting into the car after the race. It was a miracle. I’m not sure I could have handled the hills and pouring down rain.

My run was tough and I had to stop and walk up hills a couple of times. Some of the hills were so steep I even had trouble walking up them! I don’t think there was any part of this race that was an incline or decline. But I made it through and finished!

Next up, headed to Chicago to run with my college roommate Ally! I’ve heard this race is much flatter. ๐Ÿ™‚

Keep Running!
